Exam Feedback

I’ve marked all of the exams now and I’m in a position to give you some general feedback. I don’t know how many times I threw my hands in the air with despair! How many times do I need to say, ‘if they give you figures use them.’ Lots of you dropped a grade because you didn’t follow this basic piece of advice. Some of you didn’t identify the exam command words and therefore didn’t ‘do what it says on the tin,’ costing yourself yet another grade, for example, draw the bars in rank order. Another area of weakness ,was some peoples’ ability to define keywords such as famine and malnutrition – I was actually quite shocked by some of your answers. Case studies are another area where lots of you need to revise much more rigorously – yes ,that’s right ,revision is hard work! Finally when the question asks you to use or refer to a source DO IT! If you don’t ,you are making what should be a fairly straightforward task much more difficult.
